Industrial process furnaces, as their name suggests, are special heating equipment for use in industrial processes. They are extremely important in industries where there is high need for heat to make their operations possible. Among these industries are metal, oil, pottery and ceramic, chemical, petrochemical, aluminum, steel, and glass industries, to name a few.

What are the types of industrial process furnaces?

Also known as industrial furnaces or direct fired heaters, industrial process furnaces come in different types. Some industrial furnaces make use of electricity in generating heat. Others, however, burn fuel to be able to generate heat. This type of industrial furnace comes in different furnace designs involving different heating duties, perform different functions, make use different types of fuel, and introduce combustion air through different methods.

How do fuel industrial furnaces work?

The process of generating heat in industrial process furnaces starts when fuel flows into the furnace burners. Installed on the furnace’s roof, walls, or floors, these burners burn the fuel, producing flames with air blowing into it through the air blowers inside the furnace. These flames heat up a set of tubes, and these tubes heat up the fluid inside the furnace’s radiant section, also known as firebox. In this chamber, the fuel is combusted, producing flue gas, from which heat is recovered. This flue gas is then released into the air through the flue gas stack.
